Experience Transylvania
Gloria Andersson, Transylvanian Local Guide and Wine Expert
As a native of Transylvania with a deep-seated passion for its history and culture, I've dedicated my career to sharing the authentic essence of this fascinating region. My background in travel production has allowed me to craft immersive visitor experiences that go beyond the usual tourist trails, focusing on genuine encounters with locals, traditional cuisine, and the rich historical context that shapes the present day. I run a tour company called Experience Transylvania, where I serve as CEO and tour manager, often commuting between my homeland and Sweden.
Winetourism Expertise 🍷
My interest in wine tours developed based on extensive knowledge of both Transylvanian and other European wine regions. I believe that understanding the wine of a place is a window into its soul. In Transylvania, this means exploring the ancient viticulture that has thrived for thousands of years and tasting unique local varietals like Fetească Albă and Fetească Neagră. My tours delve into the history of winemaking in the region, including the influence of figures and accounts from the past.
Collaboration with Dacre Stoker and Stoker Wines 🦇
A significant part of my work involves a unique collaboration with Dacre Stoker, the great-grandnephew of Bram Stoker. Dacre, a renowned author and Dracula expert, leads tours that trace the footsteps of the fictional Count Dracula while separating fact from fiction. Together, we blend the literary legend with the historical and cultural realities of Transylvania.
Our partnership has recently expanded to include Dacre's new venture, Stoker Wines. This premium wine brand, inspired by the legacy of Bram Stoker, is based in the famous Dealu Mare region of Romania. We offer exclusive tours and tastings that connect the world of Dracula with the country's rich winemaking heritage, offering a truly unique storytelling experience.
Historical Research and Charles Boner 📖
My dedication to historical accuracy extends to my long-term research on the region's past. A key part of this is my study of Charles Boner's book, Transylvania: Its Products and Its People, a detailed account from 1865. While Boner's work primarily focuses on the life and society of the time, I've meticulously combed through it to uncover insights into the region's "Weinland" or wine country. This research allows me to provide a richer, more detailed perspective on the history of Transylvanian viticulture, connecting the past to the present in a way that few others can.
