A Fun Filled Wine Tour

Perfect Tour to visit Moët & Chandon, the surroundings of Epernay and a Boutique Champagne Producer. If you are staying in Paris, take a quick train for a day trip, and meet me at Reims Centre train station (instructions below).

We kick off by driving to to the vineyards to see the beautiful sights of the Marne River Valley, and a visit to Dom Perignon’s tomb at Hautvillers. After which we go to Épernay to visit Moët et Chandon, the largest of all Champagne Houses. Once there, the inhouse guide will take you through their cellar, and then give you 2 glasses of Champagne to taste.

Next, a lunch break at Épernay (with suggestions), where you can walk along the marvelous Avenue de Champagne. Finish with a visit at a boutique Champagne producer to learn how Champagne is produced, with a taste of 3 glasses of Champagne.

Visit to Moët & Chandon

Cellar Tour and Tasting at Moët et Chandon in the Avenue de Champagne at Épernay. The inhouse guide will take you through their historic cellars, a Unesco Heritage Site. At the end of the tour you will taste their Champagne wines, and visit their boutique. Claude Moët started producing Champagne in 1743, and his grandson Jean-Rémi excelled at making the brand world recognized. Among their customers you would find Madame de Pompadour, Napoléon and Queen Elizabeth II. The most famous Champagne in the world is one of the founders of the largest luxury group in the world, LVMH.

Champagne Avenue and Epernay

Let’s drive through the glamorous Champagne Avenue of Epernay, where famous Champagne Houses are lined one after the other: Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouët, Pol Roger, Mercier, De Castellane and more.

Hautvillers - the Cradle of Champagne wines

Hautvillers is a charming village atop the Valley of the Marne Valley, overlooking the river, Épernay and the spreading vineyards. We are going to stop for the magnificent view, and then visit the church where Dom Pérignon, the famous Steward of the local Monastery, lived and died. After seeing his tomb and talking about his legacy, we will drive through the village and hunt the dozens of medieval looking signs adorning the houses of this UNESCO site.

Aÿ Grand Cru

Aÿ is the most famous Grand Cru in Champagne, home to Bollinger, Deutz, Henri Giraud, Ayala and dozens of other big and small Champagne Houses. We will drive through the town talking about the different brands, and looking at the medieval buildings. Legends tell one of them was Henri IV’s winery in town. The famous Art Nouveau glass maker René Lalique was born here.

Champagne Route

Driving through the Route of Champagne, we visit of the vineyards around Reims, stopping for pictures and explanations. You will marvel at the beautiful sights of the Champagne countryside, where church bell towers in medieval villages contrast against a background of lush forests and vines.

Visit to a Small Producer of Champagne

Cellar Tour and Tasting of a small producer of Champagne wines.

There are thousands of small champagne producers in the small villages, some of which produce high quality wines for a good quality/price ratio. You will visit a selected one, looking into their process, machines, cellar and tasting part of their range at the end.
