About the Activity: The House of Paes do Amaral, dating back to the 17th century, was enhanced in 1644 by Gaspar Paes do Amaral, Captain-Major of Mangualde. He established a connection with the local chapel dedicated to St. Bernard. By the early 19th century, the Palace of Mangualde was commonly referred to as the “House of Paes do Amaral.” It later became known as the “Palace of Anadia” following the marriage of Manuel Paes de Sá do Amaral de Almeida e Vasconcelos Quifel Barbarino to D. Maria Luiza de Sá Pereira de Menezes de Melo Sotomayor, the 3rd Countess of Anadia. Throughout its history, notable figures such as Marshal Massena and Kings Luiz I and D. Carlos I have visited this remarkable palace.
Join us for a guided tour of the Palace, where you will also visit the 10 hectares of vineyards, surrounded by a historic agricultural garden. You will see the barrel cellar where our wines are aged, culminating in a tasting of four exquisite wines paired with local cheeses and charcuterie.
