The Palácio Condes de Anadia, originally known as the House of Paes do Amaral, dates back to the 17th century. In 1644, Gaspar Paes do Amaral, the Captain-Major of Mangualde, enhanced the estate by establishing a connection with the local chapel dedicated to St. Bernard. By the early 19th century, the palace gained its current name after the marriage of Manuel Paes de Sá do Amaral de Almeida e Vasconcelos Quifel Barbarino to D. Maria Luiza de Sá Pereira de Menezes de Melo Sotomayor, the 3rd Countess of Anadia. Throughout its history, notable figures such as Marshal Massena and King Luiz I have visited this remarkable palace, adding to its rich legacy.
