Foire aux Vins de France de Sancerre is one of the wine festivals that anchors the Loire Valley calendar, drawing both local visitors and international wine travellers each year. It is held at Village piéton de Sancerre in 18300, in the heart of one of France's most distinctive wine areas. The 2026 event marks the 52th edition of the festival, reflecting its consistent place in the regional calendar.
Two-day open-air wine fair in the pedestrian-only centre of Sancerre. Winegrowers from the 14 villages of the Sancerre appellation present their wines alongside 50+ other French appellations and local food producers. A 'vintage effect' workshop led by winegrowers explores the ageing potential of Sancerre whites and reds. Wine trade fairs in France are often the most efficient way to taste a broad cross-section of a region's producers in a short time. Attendees can expect organised tasting halls grouped by appellation or sub-region, masterclass programmes, sommelier-led sessions and structured opportunities to meet producers. Most major trade events are reserved for professionals — buyers, sommeliers, importers, journalists — though some open public-facing days during the run of the event. The event is organised by Syndicats viticoles de Sancerre (14 villages), which sets the tone and direction of the programme each year.
The Loire Valley runs more than 800 kilometres from the Atlantic to central France, producing Muscadet from the Pays Nantais, Chenin Blanc whites and Cabernet Franc reds in Anjou and Touraine, and Sauvignon Blanc in Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume. The region's chateaux and central river landscape are UNESCO-listed. Loire wine producers have been particularly active in organic and biodynamic conversion, and the festival calendar combines large public showcases such as Vitiloire and Vignes Vins Randos with focused appellation events in Saumur, Vouvray, Sancerre and the Pays Nantais.

The Loire Valley is a classic French wine touring region, reached via Tours, Angers, Nantes or Orleans.
