Enóphilo Wine Fest – Vilamoura

Algarve Portugal 7 march 2026

Enóphilo Wine Fest – Vilamoura is one of the wine festivals that anchors the Algarve calendar, drawing both local visitors and international wine travellers each year. It is held at Vilamoura in Algarve, in the heart of one of Portugal's most distinctive wine areas. It returns each year as a recurring fixture in the regional wine calendar.

~35 producers, 300+ wines. Special focus on Vinhos do Algarve. Includes tastings and workshops. Runs 3pm-8pm. Wine festivals across Europe typically combine producer tastings with food pairings, live music, and a strong sense of place. Visitors can expect access to wines from a range of producers in the appellation, alongside food stalls offering regional specialities, masterclasses or vineyard walks for those who want to learn more, and an opportunity to buy directly from producers at cellar prices. Many events run across multiple days or weekends, allowing visitors to sample different parts of the programme according to interest, and combine well with the area's wider tourism offer. The event is organised by Enóphilo, which sets the tone and direction of the programme each year.

The Algarve in southern Portugal is best known internationally as a beach-tourism destination, but it has been making wine since the time of the Phoenicians. Four DOCs cover the region: Lagos, Lagoa, Portimão and Tavira. Native red grapes include Negra Mole, Castelão and Trincadeira, with Touriga Nacional and Aragonez also planted, and whites mainly from Síria, Arinto and Malvasia Fina. The region has seen significant quality investment over the past two decades, with new boutique wineries combining traditional Algarvian wine culture with modern winemaking and a strong wine-tourism programme aimed at the Algarve's holiday visitors.

The 2026 edition is scheduled for 7 March 2026. Cost details are best confirmed directly with the organiser ahead of travel. Full programme, ticketing and updated information are published on the official site at enophilo.pt. Visitors are advised to check directly with the organiser for the latest schedule, as festival programmes are sometimes updated close to the event date.

The Algarve is reached via Faro airport (FAO), with Lagos, Portimão, Albufeira, Tavira and Vilamoura as the main coastal bases. The wine areas inland from these resorts can be reached easily by car. Algarvian cuisine pairs the wines with cataplana (a copper-pan fish-and-shellfish stew), ameijoas à algarvia, frango piri-piri, the area's almond and fig sweets (including the marzipan-figured Algarvian doces), grilled sardines along the coast, and the cuisine of the Serra do Caldeirão and Monchique mountains inland.
