Adega Ponte Da Barca, a Unique Cultural Wine Estate in Northwestern Portugal Since 1963
Adega Ponte da Barca is a unique cultural wine estate present in northwestern Portugal since 1963. The region has 20 centuries of winemaking history and is crossed by Time, Lima, and Vade rivers. In recent years, the winery has integrated modern, state-of-the-art technology to ensure vibrant, high-quality wines and protect the authenticity of their history. All their wines and spirits are under the Vinho Verde Denomination of Origin. The winery works under the principle of “the origin matters” and therefore, all their wines are made locally from grapes grown in their vineyards. The hard work and dedication of the team lead to unique and award-winning wines. Apart from Portugal, their wines are exported to many countries like Japan, Brazil, Germany, Russia, etc.
900 Hectares of Vineyards in the Best Locations of the Region
The winery boasts more than 900 hectares of vineyards in the best locations of the region. The soil is fertile and of a granite origin. The temperature varies a lot across the region, and there is high rainfall. This unique microclimate allows the growth of fruity grapes for the wines. The main grape varieties that grow in their vineyards are Loureiro, Alvarinho, Arinto, Vinhão, and Sauvignon Blanc. The best grapes are handpicked and further processed to make their red, white, rose, and sparkling wines. The wines have moderate alcohol and slight acidity. The natural fruity taste and an intense aroma reflect the region’s exceptional quality. Most of their wines have won several national and international awards for the high quality and extraordinary taste.
