Pascal Berganzo Winery, 17th Century-Old Winery in Rioja Alavesa
Pascal Berganzo Winery is a family artisan winery specializing in producing carbonic macerated wines and other traditional Rioja Alavesa wines. The family’s winery dates back to the 17th century and is located in Samaniego’s center in the Rioja Alavesa. Eduardo Pascal started the new generation of winemaking in the 1980s and made young aromatic wines. Now, his son continues the family tradition and adds the Alutiz brand to honor his mother. The winery holds modern technology and stainless steel tanks to ferment high-quality wines followed by proper aging of wines in barrels.
The wines of Pascal Berganzo Winery are unique and rightly express the features and terroir of Rioja Alavesa.
Ideal Climate and Location for the Cultivation of Vines
The winery’s vineyards are located in the south of Alava in Samaniego with stunning backdrops of the Sierra de Tolono and Sierra de Cantabria. The region has excellent clay-based soil and a mild temperate climate that protects from the winds that make the region perfect for the growth and cultivation of vines. The yields are low, but the grapes are of high quality, making rich fruit aroma and flavors with deep-colored unique wines.
