One of the most exciting wine destinations in central Italy
Chiesa del Carmine is the ancient 13th century church at the centre of the Carmine Estate, located in the heart of Umbria in north of the city of Perugia close to the Tuscan border. It was an abandoned land until the owner bought the estate in 2009. The winery has been privately owned ever since and has been slowly restored over the last decade into a beautiful and prosperous wine business.
Discover the Beauty of the Winery
The winery is a transformation of an abandoned valley in central Italy with the help of organic agriculture and hard work into one of Italy’s most beautiful location and grape growing environments. The huge winery includes an ancient terraced olive grove, a truffle wood, organic produce fields and a 5.7-hectare vineyard. In the vineyard, they cultivate grapes such as Trebbiano Spoletino, Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon which are used to produce their delicious wines. Chiesa del Carmine Winery produces typical Umbrian varieties creating excellent local wines. They are proud of the traditional processes they use during wine production.
Great Adventures Await in the Country Home Next to the Winery
The farmhouse adjoining the church has now been restored into a country home with the capacity of 14 people. Guests can stay at the house and enjoy the full experience of the winery, the farm and the Umbrian culture.
