Celebrating 200 Years of Armenian Winemaking Heritage
Maran Winery, established in the early 1990s, has deep roots in Armenian winemaking history. After the Soviet Union's collapse, Avag Harutyunyan, a descendant of the original founders, revitalized the winery. He is known for creating renowned brands such as Bagratuni, Noravank, Areni of Malishka, and M. Parajanov.
The story of Maran Winery began between 1828 and 1830 when Sargis, the son of Eynat, and his wife Maran returned from Persia to the Armenian province of Vayots Dzor. In 1860, Sargis's son Harutyun expanded the family vineyard and named it Marani in honor of his mother. He later constructed a semi-industrial wine press, marking the beginning of winemaking at Maran. Today, the winery continues to honor these traditions, producing wines that reflect the rich heritage of Armenian viticulture.
Maran's wines hold a distinguished place in the Armenian wine market and are exported to various countries, including France, Switzerland, Canada, the Czech Republic, Russia, the USA, and Australia. Wine enthusiasts and travelers alike appreciate the quality and craftsmanship that Maran Winery offers, making it a must-visit destination in the Armavir region of Armenia.
