Crafting Natural Wines with Traditional Fermentation Methods
The House of Alluria – A Gem of Armenian Winemaking
The Machanyan family's winemaking legacy began in the quaint village of Alyur, nestled near the Alluria River. Drawing inspiration from centuries of family tradition, they produce Alluria wines using indigenous grape varieties cultivated in their own vineyards. Located in Vagharshapat, in the Ararat Valley of Armenia, Alluria Winery is dedicated to crafting natural wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Armavir region.
Local Grape Varieties
With a rich history in winemaking, the Machanyan family focuses on Armenian grape varieties such as “Haghtanak,” “Karmrahyut,” “Khndoghni,” and “Voskehat.” The warm climate and sandy clay soils of Vagharshapat create ideal conditions for these grapes. The family handpicks the finest grapes, which are then processed in their cellar to produce distinctive red, white, and fortified wines.
Alluria Winery emphasizes natural winemaking, utilizing traditional methods and spontaneous fermentation without the addition of commercial yeasts and with minimal sulfites.
Wine Storage and Tasting Experience
The winery offers a complimentary storage area for clients to keep their wines for as long as they desire. Their collection features a variety of red wines, including Alluria Classic, Special, Reserve, Grand Reserve, Special Reserve, and Elegance, along with the white wine, Alluria the Beauty. Each wine boasts a natural, fruity flavor profile. Visitors are welcome to the estate for wine tastings and other engaging activities, surrounded by the stunning beauty of the region.
