Since the 1970s, Vitivinicola Il Poggio, founded by Anna Gattobigio, has been dedicated to crafting exceptional wines from carefully selected grapes native to the Trasimeno region. Her commitment reflects the rich wine culture of Trasimeno, allowing her to share her passion and expertise with wine enthusiasts.

Today we went to Anna, encouraged by the excellent reviews of other visitors, who had known her and her family business before us. We were able to do a tasting that was truly special for us, learning to discover the wines they produce accompanied by local products from the area, it was an experience that we could recommend to anyone who wants to discover Umbria and its flavors.

We visited the winery when we were staying in Umbria. We had the best time. Anna was so knowledgeable and friendly. Wine is her life, and you can tell how much she loves it. If you visit the Umbria region, I highly recommend a visit to this winery. I brought home as many wines as our airline would allow. Wonderful wines.

How often do you get the actual wine maker sharing with you about their own wine maker?! Anna, we were so honoured to have you explain to us about your incredible wines and your passion for them. And to match each wine with local produce that brought out the flavours and notes of each was a real eye-opener. The four of us booked the 8-wine tasting and local food talk for 1.5hrs and we learnt so much. Outstanding experience, I would totally recommend it.

We came unexpected and we were very friendly welcomed by Anna Gattobigio. We tried almost all the wines. They tasted delizioso and Anna told a lot about the wines, especially the vin santo. So, if you're in the neighbourhood, visit Cantina Il Poggio and try for yourself. You won't regret it.

We arrived at this family-run winery for a wine tasting. Right upon arrival we were greeted by Mrs. Anna, the owner of the company, with a welcome that "smelled like home". We found that the table set with all the local delicacies was accompanied by different types of wine of equally high quality. Wines that Mrs. let us choose from a huge selection based on our taste and preferences (a little anxious at that point). He explained everything and all the peculiarities to us with passion and dedication, it was almost impossible not to be enchanted, accompanying us in listening to our senses and perception. We can say that it was a real treat for the mind and soul and also for the palate!!! I would definitely come back for another sensory "journey"!
