Discover Douro Valley Wine Tour for scenery lovers

Your day will start early morning on a tour to discover the hidden jewels of the Douro Valley, with a first stop in the city of Amarante where History merges with the ancestral monuments next to the Cathedral of S. Gonçalo de Amarante and the bridge with the same name where historic battles were fought. There, you will have the opportunity to appreciate the famous Vinho Verde (Green Wine) a low % alcohol wine slightly sparkling, which goes very well with the traditional sweets of the region «doce conventual», but also in a meal with seafood and fish.

You will cross the second highest mountain in Portugal, the Serra do Marão in the comfort of a Mercedes and arrive finally to the region of Douro enjoying the beautiful terraced landscapes where we will visit our first vineyard farm that produces famous Port wines with Gold medals in London for the Reserve 10 Years and 40 years, where we have the opportunity to learn how wine has been made since centuries from harvesting to storage, learn about the history of the Quinta from 5^th generation and the region.

There will then be time to enjoy lunch with a menu to choose from a typical local restaurant with genuine Portuguese food, which will include local labelled red and white wines, water and soft drinks.

If you prefer a restaurant with Michelin star we will offer you a reservation in a restaurant over the river Douro, DOC from Chef Rui Paula a signature cuisine meal where ancestral recipes and innovation are combined, which leads to a marvelous experience full of new flavors and aromas. (this option is not included in the price).

After lunch It’s time to enjoy a relaxing boat ride of one hour up the river starting at Pinhão, staring the ingenious and colorful slopes full of vineyards on both shores of the beautiful river Douro.

After the cruise you will have a one of the seven most magnificent viewpoints of the world, on the top of a mount facing Pinhão village, followed by a visit to the Museum of Olive Oil, where you will learn and understand how olive oil was produced in old days, and having a taste of different qualities, with a taste of honey produced also in the area, and some excellent table wines that will put your senses to the test of different kinds of white and red wines.

Option 2 - If your target is of oenology level, studying and learning deeply about production and the evolution of wines through the years, the DNA of grape varieties, at a molecular level, we will offer you an option instead of Museum of Olive Oil, to visit a very old farm Quinta do Infantado, Classified as the Best World’s Vineyard 2022 and 2023, with more then 200  years, established by Infante D. Pedro, that became when adult King of Portugal D. Pedro IV, and Emperor of Brasil D. Pedro I, in the unique terroir of Gontelho Valley, a micro-region long known for the quality of its wines. Selection massale of more than 20 Douro grapes, between white and red, planted in all the expositions and different altitudes. Quinta do Infantado is a real wine estate, based on the concept of terroir and vigneron. There you will taste 5 or more table wines and 3 or more Porto Wines. The singular philosophy of Infantado makes for Portos that are more vinous and light, so a better choice for the table. In the end, you have a certificate of Wine Tourism oenology.
