Wine The Gap Kft.
I am a wine judge, wine journalist and have a wine bar in Budapest, Hungary. But most of all, I am just crazy about wine! :) I am in the Hungarian wine business in the last 25 years. Therfore, I know quite a few winemakers in person all over the 22 wine regions all over Hungary. The meeting pont for the countrside tours is always Budapest. Have several wine tours to: - Lake Balaton (mostly white) - Lake Velence (pálinka distillery visit) - Tokaj wine region (only whie - Tokaj Aszú) - Szekszárd wine region (mostly red) - Eger wine region (mostly red) - Etyek-Budai wine region (Páty - mostly white)
I am not only a wine lover but also a wine judge and wine journalist. I have been doing this since 2005. I also visited many wine countries and spent some time there such as USA (Oregon), Italy, France, Spain and Israel. I also had my own winestore and was the retail director of the second biggest wine trader company in Hungary. Wine is my passion but to see the whole picture you also have to know the winemakers. Fortunately, I know most of them in person. Telling their stories to you makes this event memorable.
"If you live in Rome do what the romans do". If you are in Hungary taste what the locals taste. Did you know that Hungary is considered to be wine drinking nation (rather than beer)? You will have a chance to taste 6 +1 indigenous Hungarian white wines, such as the "Unpronounceable Grape" called Cserszegi fűszeres, Hárslevelű or probably our best known grape Furmint, which is the basic grape of Tokaji Aszú. Among the red you can taste Kékfrankos, Kadarka and Bull's Blood. Besides tasting these wine I will tell you the history of winemaking in Hungary. As a wine journalist and wine judge I know a lot of wine makers in personal. I will also tell some funny stories regarding their wines which we taste. Also do not forget that most of the wines can be only tasted or bought in Michelin star restaurants and top hotels in Budapest.
