Vinos elaborados con Uvas Únicas en el Mundo
The only winery in the Canary Islands with its own energy supply is Bodegas El Sitio, located in the Tenerife municipality of Tacoronte. The winery was founded by the González Yanes family. Francisco, along with his three children, wanted to make the wines he had always dreamed of. In a short time, Bodegas el Sitio and its single-varietal wines, full of the minerality of the islands' volcanic soils, became the most sought-after wines among fine wine consumers, thanks in large part to its extensive business experience and its extensive experience in foreign markets.
Plots and Varieties of El Sitio Wineries
The San Juan, Drinking Fountain, Guarisancho, Las Lapas, and Hoya del Llano plots of the San Juan Winery contribute to providing several grape varieties with distinct flavors and aromas. The red varieties Vijariego Negro (85%) and Syrah (15%) are grown in the clay-loam soil of the San Juan plot, which has a good water-holding capacity. Many consider the Drinking Fountain plot to be the pinnacle of the magnificent white variety El Sitio de Canarias. The soil type best for growing the white form of Malvasía Aromática is silt-loam, not extremely compact. The Verijadiego Blanco variety on the picón (volcanic ash) and low fertility soil of the Guarisancho plot, which is well-suited to achieving good fragrance concentration in the grape skins, is one of the white varieties that performs particularly well. In the Las Lapas plot, the reds Vijariego Negro (El Sitio Tinto) and Baboso Negro (De Yanes Tinto) grow on very loose, sandy soil (volcanic ash), low in clay, which allows for the production of smaller berries that result in more concentrated wines. Hoya Del Llano Plot A native variety called Forastera Gomera is grown here. The optimal conditions for the excellent development of this unusual variety are provided by the steep slope of the land, the extremely low fertility of this soil of volcanic origin, and the sandy-loam texture, which is excessively rocky.
Different Wines from Bodegas El Sitio
The Canary Islands have been able to preserve many rare grape varieties thanks to the absence of the dreaded phylloxera. As a result, the entire vineyard is planted uncovered, allowing for complete interaction between plant and soil, which helps explain why our wines possess a pronounced minerality. This, combined with the varieties' adaptation to the different microclimates, gives them a remarkable personality and distinctive features. The wines from Bodegas El Sitio are incredibly distinctive and "different by nature."
