Step into the heart of Hungary's legendary Tokaj wine region with an intimate tasting at the family-owned, award-winning Naár Winery, nestled among the UNESCO World Heritage wine cellars of Hercegkút's historic Gombos Hill cellar row. This authentic experience combines centuries of winemaking tradition, local history, and genuine family hospitality in one of the world's most celebrated wine regions.

Your visit begins with a walk through the picturesque Swabian cellar village, where you'll learn about the fascinating history of Hercegkút and the Tokaj wine region while exploring the centuries-old UNESCO-listed cellar rows. You'll then enter the Naár family's underground cellar, lovingly carved and restored by hand over many years by the winemaker and his son, creating a truly unique setting for your tasting.

During the guided tasting, you'll sample six distinctive Tokaj wines that showcase the region:

Dry Yellow Muscat (Sárgamuskotály)

Furmint

Hárslevelű

Sweet Szamorodni / Late Harvest Kövérszőlő

5 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú

Semi-Sweet Yellow Muscat

Along the way, you'll discover why Tokaj is one of the world's oldest officially classified wine regions and how its volcanic soils, unique microclimate, and the noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) create wines found only in a few places on Earth. Tokaji Aszú, famously known as the "Wine of Kings, King of Wines," has been enjoyed by European royalty for centuries and remains one of the world's most iconic sweet wines.

After the tasting, you're free to continue exploring at your own pace. Climb the nearby 14-station Calvary for panoramic views over Hercegkút, the Zemplén Mountains, and the surrounding vineyards, or stroll to the equally charming Kőporos cellar row, home to dozens of beautifully preserved historic wine cellars and another highlight of the UNESCO World Heritage site.

What a beautiful place! Angie was a friendly host, giving us detailed explanations of the wines and the cellar during our tasting. The owner was incredibly kind and even gave us a ride to the station. We truly made some great memories here. We also enjoyed the wine at home. Highly recommended!

We had a very friendly and pleasant experience. It was just a day after the New Year. The owner arrived just for the 4 of us providing 2 hours of tasting 8 delicious Tokaj wines. The wines were the best I have tasted in Tokaj, clean taste, colour. It is a family ran winery, authentic, I do highly recommend.

We stopped here briefly(to hide from rain!), we were greeted with smiles, the wine was explained to us in Hungarian and in perfect English, we were asked if we wanted to try some of the food they serving to guests that had just arrived from Poland. A perfect hidden gem. We did not try the wine but we liked the atmosphere so we bought 2 dry and 2 aszu, we have only had one of the cheaper dry wines and I must admit it's absolutely 💯 amazing!!
