The Moldovan Hills wine region is rich in natural beauty, culture, folklore, and history. This part of Romania is home to many orthodox churches that are all located on the Golden Plateau, the centre of the Moldovan Hills wine region which has developed over centuries.
The climate of the Moldovan Hills wine region is temperate continental with very hot summers and snow during the winter months. The Moldovan Hills wine region is the largest single viniculture region in Romania and is where one can see 70 000 hectares of vineyards planted on terraced slopes. The climate conditions of the Moldovan Hills wine region are ideal for winemaking although the winters can sometimes be harsh.

The Moldovan Hills wine region is the most famous winemaking region of Romania. The most notable Moldovan wines are golden sweet twines that are made in the Cotnari area.
Other famous wines of the region are Franusca, dry white wine with aromas of grapes, a velvety taste, and a greenish-yellow colour; and Feteasca Alba, semi-dry or sweet wine with a golden yellow colour and aromas of honey.

The Ion Creanga Memorial House is the beautifully resorted house of the famous Romanian storyteller Ion Creanga who lived from 1837 – 1889. For Romanians, this is a very special place as it is where most of Creanga’s famous stories are set. Today, visitors can enjoy the small house and its bright geraniums on the patio.
The Iasi Palace of Culture is a building in Moldova that once served as the Administrative Justice Palace until 1995. Today the building is home to the Moldova National Museum Complex and the Cultural Heritage Conservation-Restoration Centre.

Tochitura Moldoveneasca is a traditional Romanian and Moldovan dish made of small cubes of pork that are cooked over a low fire in its own fat and juices. The cooked port is traditionally served with over-easy eggs.
