Grau i Grau – A Winery Steeped in History

We are a fifth-generation family-owned winery from the small and distinctive Pla de Bages region, in the heart of Catalonia, Spain. Our story began in 1885, when our ancestors were already tending vineyards and making wine for their family and neighbors — laying the foundations of a legacy that continues today.

A pivotal chapter was written by the third generation — our grandfather and grandmother — whose courage and vision transformed our future. At a time of uncertainty, they believed in the potential of the wine market and committed themselves to producing quality wines under the Pla de Bages Denomination of Origin, then one of the region’s most important wine areas. Their resilience, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering focus on the future shaped the identity of our winery.

Today, the fifth generation proudly farms 25 hectares of estate vineyards, honoring the values passed down to us: hard work, respect for the land, and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Every bottle we produce carries not only the character of our terroir, but also the strength of five generations united by passion and purpose.

Our location

What truly makes us unique is our exceptional location. Our vineyards are situated at 600 meters above sea level, where significant temperature differences between day and night during the ripening season allow the grapes to develop remarkable natural acidity and balance. This natural freshness gives our wines structure, vibrancy, and outstanding aging potential. However, what truly defines our identity is Picapoll — the jewel of our region and our crown variety. Cultivated here for centuries, Picapoll was long underestimated, but today it has rightfully regained its place as the emblematic grape of Pla de Bages. A late-ripening variety with remarkable character and elegance, it reflects the landscape and heritage of our land like no other.
