Chañarmuyo Winery: Ideal Winemaking Conditions in the Andes Foothills

Chañarmuyo Winery is located in the picturesque Chañarmuyo Valley, surrounded by the stunning Paiman Hills of the Andes. This unique region in La Rioja Province features a rocky desert landscape, where giant green thistles thrive under abundant sunlight and gentle breezes, creating an exceptional microclimate for grape cultivation.

Winemaking with a Commitment to Nature

Founded in 2001 by Jorge Chamas, Chañarmuyo Winery is rooted in a philosophy of respect for the environment. With a small community of just 100 residents, the winery's team is dedicated to producing high-quality wines that reflect the harmony of their natural surroundings. Chañarmuyo Winery has gained international recognition, earning several awards for its exceptional vintages.

The vineyards, located near the Blanco and Duranzo Rivers, benefit from the fertile soils of the Mendoza region, yielding premium grapes. The primary varieties cultivated include Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay, while Tannat, Petit Verdot, Syrah, and Viognier thrive in select areas. The grapes are carefully fermented in stainless steel tanks, resulting in outstanding red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines.

Experience the Charm of Chañarmuyo

Visitors to Chañarmuyo Winery can enjoy the rich history of the area, with its quaint streets, ancient homes, and vibrant town square. The local church and pub reflect the spirit of this historic community. Guests are invited to participate in wine and food pairing experiences that showcase the essence of La Rioja, Argentina.

We did the guided tour and lunch at the winery. The visit is correct, it is done in your own vehicle and the lunch is very good. The sales prices of wines are higher than in the rest of the country, which is striking. They could offer a little more wine during lunch (since they produce it themselves) and serve it with a strange suspicion, as if it were an extremely scarce resource.

The Winery has a beautiful view from all angles and exquisite wines, 100 hectares of vineyards protected with anti-hail... the decoration of the place is distinguished, at lunch time we were served by Enzo, who made himself available and was super attentive . The food and desserts were well done but they don't stand out.. To get to the winery from Chilecito you can go along the RN40 and return along the RP78 (which is much more Pinterozca).

Beautiful place, worth the trip. The guest house offers very complete and beautiful rooms, with quality details. All the meals they offered us were delicious, breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Each of the dishes were very well prepared and of course accompanied with the excellent wines from the winery. Very good and recommended experience. It's worth it!
