History of Château de Beaucastel

Château de Beaucastel has a rich history that dates back to 1549 when Pierre de Beaucastel acquired a barn and 52 saumées of land in Coudoulet. The estate, named after the family, has changed hands several times until 1909 when Pierre Tramier passed it to his son-in-law, Pierre Perrin. Today, the legacy continues with Jean-Pierre and François, the grandsons of Perrin, who uphold the family tradition of winemaking at Château de Beaucastel.

The Perrin Family Philosophy

The Perrin family thrives on collaboration, blending their unique talents to manage the estate with shared values. They prioritize respect for the land and terroir, embracing biodynamic practices as a way of life. Their commitment to authenticity and balance is evident in every bottle. At Château de Beaucastel, the art of blending is a time-honored tradition, utilizing 13 historical grape varieties from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region. Each year, they create a distinctive wine that showcases power, structure, elegance, and freshness.

The Terroir of Château de Beaucastel

The vineyards at Château de Beaucastel exemplify nature's artistry. The vines are allowed to grow freely, with minimal intervention to enhance their natural resilience within a carefully preserved ecosystem. The estate spans 100 hectares, home to the 13 traditional grape varieties of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, while an additional 30 hectares are dedicated to crop rotation, preparing for future vineyard plantings. This sustainable approach ensures that the land remains fertile and vibrant for generations to come.

I went on a wine tour. One of the most impressive wineries in the world I've ever been to. Christy was a great host and served us wholeheartedly. Special wines of the highest quality in the world. Highly recommended.

One of the storied estates that always delivers. They try to vinify every permitted grape in CDP as a representation of the appellation. The 2005 was singing last night after a couple hours of decanting. An icon of CDP and deservedly so both for the history and for the consistently superb quality of their wines
