Located on a property established during the 8th century
The Story of Chateau De La Riviere
Located on the remains of an old fortified camp built by Charlemagne in 769, the Castle of La Rivière dominates the Dordogne valley and offers a great view on its river and its 65 hectares of vineyard.
How it all Started
In the XVI century, Gaston De l’Isle, the mayor of Bordeaux takes over the lands and starts the construction of the central main building of the castle. Redesigned by Duthoit – assistant of the famous architect Viollet Le Duc, during the XIX century – the property will pass from one noble family to another which will make the History of the Castle.
<The Lands
Nowadays, the Castle of La Rivière is the widest domain in Fronsac. Our team is glad to introduce you to this architectural gem with great History and to its immense caves established on 8 hectares where some 700 000 bottles are preserved in natural and ideal conditions.
