A Family-Run Winery Preserving Piedmont's Wine Heritage
A Family Legacy in the Hills of Rodello
Farmers since 1900 and winemakers since 1927, the Drocco family has long been tied to the land of Rodello, in the small hamlet of Vaj. It was in 1937 that Agostino Drocco, Renzo’s father, began cultivating grapes as the family’s primary crop, focusing on Dolcetto, the ancient red grape of the Langhe. The name Dolcetto is linked to the region’s gently rolling terrain—“dùset,” meaning “small hills” in the local dialect. Over time, the winery expanded its vineyards to include Arneis, Favorita, and Chardonnay in the early 1980s, yet the heart of their identity remains Dolcetto d’Alba. Today, the estate proudly continues its family-run approach, led by Renzo and his family, who follow every stage of production with dedication.
Tradition, Handcrafted Wines, and Ideal Terroir
The vineyards of Drocco Renzo Winery extend across the hillsides of Rodello, just 10 km from Alba, at around 400 meters above sea level. With optimal west and southwest exposure, the vines benefit from a balanced microclimate and light, protective breezes. The soils, composed of sand and shallow marl veins, are ideal for producing elegant, expressive wines. The work in the vineyard remains deeply rooted in tradition, with pruning, training, thinning, and harvesting still done by hand. Every bottle reflects the values of the family: hard work, commitment, and a lasting passion for the true character of the Langhe.
