Il Molinaccio: A Winery Steeped in History

Il Molinaccio is a unique winery located on the remnants of an ancient mill in the charming town of Montepulciano, Tuscany. The mill, known as Molinaccio in historical maps, has been beautifully renovated into a luxury guesthouse. Guests can enjoy the stunning natural surroundings, which include lush vineyards, majestic oaks, and fragrant olive groves. The property features a saltwater swimming pool, providing a refreshing experience without harsh chemicals, making it an ideal spot for relaxation alongside exceptional wines and local cuisine.

Ideal Conditions for Winemaking

The estate is graced by the Salcheto stream, offering a serene walking path for guests to connect with nature. Spanning 3.6 hectares, Il Molinaccio's vineyards primarily cultivate Sangiovese grapes. The winery produces a selection of esteemed wines, including La Spinosa, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, La Poiana Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG, Il Golo Rosso di Montepulciano DOC, and L’Allocco IGT Toscana. Additionally, Grappa di Vino Nobile is crafted in collaboration with Nannoni distilleries, showcasing the region's rich winemaking tradition.

Commitment to Organic Practices

Il Molinaccio is dedicated to sustainability and received organic certification in February 2017. The well water is purified for use, and a photovoltaic system meets their energy needs while also recharging guests' electric vehicles. Visitors can savor wines paired with delicious local dishes made from homegrown ingredients, including tarts crafted from jams made with fruits from their gardens. This commitment to quality and sustainability enhances the overall experience for wine lovers and travelers alike.

At Molinaccio you will feel at home... where you can walk through the vineyards, taste good wine, take a dip in the pool and above all spend relaxing days in nature. Friendly, helpful, kind owners and staff. A little pearl (also of history)...

Our stay at Il Molinaccio di Montepulciano was nothing short of magical. This secluded and unique winery, which also serves as a charming B&B, provided the perfect escape for relaxation and rejuvenation. The property’s history as an old mill has been beautifully preserved, and the renovations have transformed it into a luxurious country house that retains its authentic charm. It’s obvious that the owner Alessandro poured his heart into keeping the history of this property alive. The surrounding landscape, with its centuries-old oaks, orchards, and vineyards, created an atmosphere of tranquility and connection with nature. We thoroughly enjoyed the company of our host Lizzle, who made us feel at home with their warmth and hospitality. Lizzle’s South African roots added a unique touch to our experience, and her delightful breakfasts were a highlight of our stay. While we didn’t have the opportunity to book the entire villa for our family and friends, we were still able to take advantage of the shared kitchen and facilities, which added to the communal and welcoming vibe of Il Molinaccio di Montepulciano. In summary, our time at Il Molinaccio di Montepulciano was truly unforgettable. The combination of the idyllic setting, warm hospitality, and the opportunity to experience the region’s renowned wine and cuisine made for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We cannot recommend this hidden gem highly enough!

We were a family of 10 that spent a week this past July at Il Molinaccio. Coming from different parts of the U S, Alessando and his staff prepared a delicious Tuscan dinner for us. The setting, the staff, and the location could not have been better. You are in the wine country and only a 5 minute car ride to the center of Montepulciano. The reason I give it a 4.5 instead of a 5 star rating is as follows. The screens on the doors and windows are broken, the umbrellas up by the beautiful pool do not open or close. Also some bug zappers should be installed on the outside patio as not to get bitten. These are all small issues that I hope will be taken care of before our next visit. If so this is a 5+ villa to rent. Grazie e Buona Fortuna Ron Fontana & Family
