Lapa Dos Reis Winery, the Wine Business Since the 19th Century
The Lapa dos Reis winery is in the wine business since the 19th century, and their oldest vineyards show the cultural evolution and the influence of the early French invasions. It’s the face of the familial initiative that, through five generations, has selected new grape varieties and improved of the processes of creating their estate wines. On the red and grey clay terraces are produced well-bodied and extremely aromatic wines. The Roman ruins of Rabaçal refer to the importance of the vineyards in their lands.
Wines of the Highest Quality at this Winery
The wines of this region are of recognized as high quality since the middle ages. The smooth tannins are acquired and harmonized through a six months phase in barrels of French oak. Over the years, the family always produced, for personal consumption, natural sparkling wine. This family tradition developed a high quality sparkling wine. The manufacturing process is the classic Remuage method. The bottles are opened manually, and its licors preserve its characteristics.

Their estate vineyards are located in a valley next to the hillside that receives a lot of sunlight. This coupled with ideal soil, and microclimate makes the region perfect for vine cultivation. The main varieties of grapes that grow here are Touriga Nacional, Pinot Noir, Arinto, Bastardo, Chardonnay, Fernão Pires, Tinta Roriz. The best grapes are used to make their red, white and sparkling wines. Their farm is certified organic, and they use sustainable and biodynamic processes to protect the environment and its wines. The wines have an intense fruity taste and reflect the qualities of their gifted terroir.
