Michel Bouchard found Bouchard Pere & Fils
Maison Bouchard Père & Fils was set up by Michel Bouchard in 1731, and the winery continues the tradition after almost three centuries and nine generations in Burgundy. The first vineyards were acquired in 1775 by Joseph Bouchard in the famous Volnay region. During the French Revolution, many properties were listed for sale, and Antoine Bouchard extended the vineyards at this opportunity. The future generations added more land in the 19th and 20th centuries to set up an exciting and big estate for the family.
Premium vineyards in premium locations
The company owns almost 130 hectares of vineyards with 74 Premier Crus and 12 Grand Crus. One will feel the traditions, diversity, and heritage of Burgundy here. There are some other prestigious appellations that are tended by their team for winemaking. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are mainly grown here to make red and white wines. Each wine and each grape is vinified as per its requirement. Every work is done with sustainable techniques, and the company received a High Environmental Value certification in 2015 for great work.
Underground cellar at the winery with all facilities
The underground cellar is beneath the historic Chateau de Beaune that has a unique collection of more than 2000 wine bottles from the 19th century. The high-tech winery started in 2015, and grapes are transferred through gravity. Pressing and fermentation take place, and ageing is done so that the wines attain the required taste, structure, and flavor. The underground cellar also acts as a natural place for storing wines.
