Quinta da Sequeira Winery, located in Vila Nova de Foz Coa in the Douro Superior region, has been a family-run establishment since 1899. Founded by Jose Joaquim Costa and his wife, Maria Jose Sequeira, the winery carries Maria's name and is now managed by their great-granddaughter, Maria da Graca, alongside her husband, Mario Cardoso. The winery benefits from the region's ideal climate and soil, which are perfect for cultivating high-quality grapes. Committed to sustainability, Quinta da Sequeira employs organic practices to protect the environment and ensure the health of their vineyards for future generations.

Some of the vines at Quinta da Sequeira are over 100 years old, yielding a small quantity of exceptional grapes.

The primary goal of Quinta da Sequeira is to produce wines that reflect the unique character and flavor of the Douro region. Spanning nearly 15 hectares, their vineyards are home to a variety of traditional grape types. While the older vines produce lower yields, the quality of the grapes is outstanding, thanks to the region's favorable climate and soil conditions.

Traditional Grape Varieties

Quinta da Sequeira cultivates several key grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, and Códega do Larinho. These grapes are used to create a diverse range of wines, including red, white, rosé, dessert, and fortified options. The winery maintains high standards throughout the winemaking process, ensuring minimal intervention to preserve the natural flavors and aromas of the grapes.
