An Overview

Winemaking in Armenia has a rich history that spans over 6,000 years, with its roots traced back to the Areni-1 cave in the Vayots Dzor province. This site is home to the oldest known winemaking artifacts, showcasing Armenia's long-standing relationship with wine.

The Taste of Armenia

Throughout its history, Armenia has undergone many changes, yet the passion for wine remains a constant. Armenian wines stand out due to their unique characteristics, largely attributed to indigenous grape varieties that predate many found in France. This heritage has led to the cultivation of exceptional grape types that flourish in Armenia's diverse climate.

The Rich Lands of Tushpa Wine Cellar

Tushpa Wine Cellar is situated in the fertile Ararat Valley, where the soil and climate create ideal conditions for high-quality grape production. Our winemakers focus on minimal intervention techniques, allowing the true essence of each grape to shine through in our wines. This approach ensures that every bottle reflects the unique terroir of the region, offering a genuine taste of Armenian heritage.

I was visiting from Montreal and was hoping to do a tasting of their wines. I sent an email and they immediately responded to schedule a time for a visit. Despite some last minute changes in schedule, they were very flexible which I do appreciate. All the wines I tasted are delicious. These are high quality wines. Their work goes beyond wine making but also wine education for whomever feel that wine is a distant product to them. I love the philosophy.. Tasted: - Kangun white : Crisp, mineral, expressive and delicate. - Haghtanak red: tannic, fruity, round, coffee - Haghtanak red reserve: beautiful wine, more elegant in style than the regular red, despite being aged longer. Also some thyme and herbal notes. - Muscat white: Great semi sweet, apricot, honey, cream - Petnat white: what can I Say, an amazing breakfast wine, fresh, acidic, light - Petnat rosé (Tozot): insane wine, floral, red fruit, delicate and smooth. What a discovery, hope I see these wines more available in the future. Thank you again Irina and Hazreh to make it happen !

A great place to drink wine and enjoy good food with a beautiful view. Call ahead to reserve (although they let us in anyway but asked us not to do so in the future) :)
