The Tuscan Terroirs
The Valdonica winery and estate is located in Tuscany, Italy. The heart of this winery is its magnificent vineyards which were planted to celebrate the wonderful mother nature. All of the soil on which the vines are planted is treated with the utmost respect and is untouched and virginal. The buildings of the Valdonica estate were built using traditional Tuscan architecture and modern designs to provide the feeling of the true Italian Dolce Vita or the good life. The first Valdonica wines were produced in 2005. Five wines were produced to represent five characteristics of the land and the five expressions of Valdonica. The wines are fermented in small batches using yeast made on the Valdonica land. Following this they are allowed to mature in barriques or stainless steel and left to rest in the bottle for up to 24 months. Over time the wines have become more and more excellent and today are recognized for their wonderful tastes, flavors and quality. The Valdonica vineyards are unique in that they are located at high altitudes of up to 500 meters. This provides them with a Mediterranean microclimate. This paired with the excellent volcanic soil of the area reflects in the spiciness of the wines produced. The wine making team at Valdonica make their wines with the greatest respect and gratefulness for nature with minimal use of human intervention. The result of this has been an organic certification for all Valdonica wines. For wine lovers who appreciate the wonder of nature and beautiful landscapes this winery in Tuscany should not be missed.
