Between Collio and the Friulian plain, always looking for wines with adequate and more than adequate characteristics, I stumbled upon this winery in Strassoldo. I can't believe my senses, here you can buy evolved nectars at the price of a table wine. Try it and believe it. Now I'm leaving for France with more courage because I'll be accompanied by a last red from 2012 (Merlot, Cabernet, Refosco pr) at a very fair price.

Villa Vitas in Strassoldo, Italy, is a true insider tip that I discovered by chance 15 years ago. Since this lucky find, I have only had this special red wine called Refosco, which I consider to be the best red wine in the world. Refosco – The grape variety Refosco is an indigenous grape variety from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, known for its strong and aromatic wines. The grapes of this variety produce wines with a deep ruby ​​red color and an intense bouquet of red fruits, cherries and plums, often accompanied by spicy notes and hints of herbs. Randomly fell into this winery due to bad weather! Tasted great wines (Friulano, Pino grigio, Traminer) and grappa and then bought them. Very friendly young man advised us. We were also able to visit the in-house park. Great old villa attached where you could rent rooms.

We stayed in one of the apartments in the main house during our vacation. Our apartment was newly renovated and very tastefully furnished. The kitchen has everything you need. The 2 bathrooms were new. The location of the villa is great. On one side is the quiet park-like garden, on the other side is the town where you can reach everything important on foot (restaurants and supermarket). The wines are excellent. Unfortunately, one of our children got sick and we had to leave early. The landlords were very accommodating. Thank you again for that. We will definitely come back.
