Weingut Kuhnle – 500 Years of Winemaking History
Weingut Kuhnle is located in the Remstal-Stuttgart area in the German wine region of Württemberg. Werner Kuhnle and Margaret have owned the winery since 1983. Both of them come from families with more than 500 years of history in winemaking, sharing their passion and love for viticulture. The half-timbered estate of Weingut Kuhnle sits in the Rems Valley, as they have established their renowned business from small beginnings in a short time.
The vineyards of Weingut Kuhnle are located on steep slopes therefore most of the work is done by hand.
Their success comes from quality work in the vineyards and the cellar with a neverending enthusiasm to make the best possible wines. The environment of the region inspires them to put in effort in the production of their wines continuously.
Best Vineyard Locations in the Region
Weingut Kuhnle’s vineyards are spread over 25 hectares of land and are located in some of the best sites such as Endersbach, Schnait, Stetten, and Beutelsbach. The soil and microclimate provide an excellent opportunity for vine cultivation. Pruning during winter and thinning out ensures that the yield is low and the grapes are of high quality. The vineyards are present on steep slopes, and most of the work is manual.
Local German and International Grape Varietals at the Winery
Weingut Kuhnle grows Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Kerner, Muskateller, Trollinger, Muskattrollinger, Lemberger, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dornfelder, and Pinot Noir. The best grapes are handpicked and used to make their famous red, white, rosé, sparkling, dessert, and fortified wines. The gentle processes used for their wines in the cellar allows them to retain natural fruity aromas and flavors, reflecting the terroir and its unique qualities.
