The Great Hill (largest DOC of Romania)

Romania is one of the largest producers of wine in Europe and has won numerous gold medals at international wine competitions. The Great Hill is 1:30h drive away from Bucharest, in a picturesque area with orchards and vineyards.

We will visit a premium winery, learn about the daily activity and the process of making wine, then have a tasting of 5 fine wines with charcuterie platters on the terrace with a view.

This was simply the best wine tasting tour ever. Ovidiu was a fantastic guide and very knowledgableable regarding the selected wines. Highly recommended - it does not get any better than this. I would like to give this more than 5 stars if this was possible.

Great Wine Tour with Room for Even More Authenticity

We had a wonderful experience with Ovidiu, whose hospitality and warm, personalized service truly stood out; he is an excellent host and made us feel very welcome. As frequent wine travelers (France, Italy, Spain, US, Georgia, etc.), what we loved most was the chance to discover Romania’s unique wines. At the same time, we think the experience could become even more memorable with a bit more focus on vineyard walks, local grape varieties, and tasting settings that highlight the authentic charm of Romania’s wine culture. This would add that extra “wow” factor we know the country has to offer. That said, we really enjoyed our day and are looking forward to coming back for another tour in the future to explore even more of Romania’s fantastic wines with Ovidiu. Highly recommended!
