The Vineyard

Domaine Asmara Vineyard is located in the heart of the Heathcote Wine Region. The soils are Red Cambrian, which are formed more than 500 million years ago (our vines are not that old though). The wines are 100% handcrafted, which includes hand pruning, handpicking, and basket pressing.

Vinification

The fruits are handpicked. This wine is then wild yeast fermented in an open tank. After reaching 3 Baume’, approximately 30% of the wine was then barreled fermented. After spending 20 days on lees, the balance was basket pressed by hand and in 100% new French Grand Reserve barriques (Troncais, Jupille) for 15 months.

Tasting notes

Crimson-purple; a potent bouquet of black fruits, spice, chocolate, and licorice is followed by a full-bodied palate and a very long finish. Fine-grained tannins are balanced by the fruits. Excellent cellaring potential. 98 pts Winestate Magazine World’s Greatest Shiraz Challenge.
