Artana Wines: A Heritage of Winemaking in Kakheti
A Unique Winemaking Tradition at Artana Winery
Artana Wines has a rich history rooted in the legacy of Dimitri Rcheulishvili, a pioneer of winemaking in Georgia. Rcheulishvili established a wine cellar on his land in Kakheti, igniting a passion for winemaking that would shape the region. The village of Artana soon emerged, gaining recognition for its exceptional wine production. In 2007, Rcheulishvili's descendants acquired the Artana Winery property, reviving the family tradition of crafting estate wines. Today, the winery is managed by his grandchildren, Anastasia and Mariam, who have been dedicated to producing organic wines since 2014.
The Artana Wines Collection
Artana Wines are proudly labeled under the ღVINO brand, known for its commitment to natural winemaking. These wines are crafted without any additives or alterations, ensuring a pure expression of the grapes. The team at Artana emphasizes the importance of maintaining Georgian winemaking traditions, utilizing traditional qvevri for fermentation. This method allows the grapes to ferment with their skins for 2-3 weeks, resulting in rich flavors and aromas. The collection includes notable varieties such as Saperavi, Kisi, Tavkveri, and Rkatsiteli. In addition to wine, Artana also produces Chacha, a traditional Georgian spirit similar to vodka, with offerings like Chacha Rkatsiteli, Chacha Saperavi, and Maro Distilled ღVINO.
