Rich Heritage

Located in the picturesque Eastern Sicilian Valley of Noto, Barone Sergio Ssa has been a family-owned winery for generations. The estate comprises two properties, Le Mandrie and Gaudioso, where ancient structures have been thoughtfully transformed into modern winery facilities. While embracing innovation, the winery has preserved the historical charm of the area, allowing visitors to appreciate the stunning Sicilian Baroque architecture that defines this region.

Ideal Climate

Barone Sergio Ssa benefits from a unique microclimate characterized by warm, dry Mediterranean air. This exceptional weather is ideal for cultivating the winery's renowned DOC Eloro Nero d’Avola and the distinctive Moscato di Noto. The combination of abundant sunshine and optimal growing conditions contributes to the rich flavors and quality of the wines produced here.

Winemaking Techniques

The artistry of Barone Sergio Ssa's wines stems from a harmonious blend of traditional and modern winemaking techniques. For centuries, Sicilian farmers have honed their agricultural practices, and the winery continues to honor this legacy. By integrating the expertise of professionals like Giovanni Rizzo, the winery's enological advisor, and Lucio Brancadoro, an agronomist from the University of Milan, Barone Sergio Ssa enhances its production methods while staying true to its roots.

We had an amazing afternoon in this very authentic vineyard. It’s a beautiful location and the food and wine were fabulous. Luigia gave us a tour of the vineyard and explained everything really well.

An opportunity to discover Sicily's wine with the family itself who have owned this winery for 6 generations. Passion, authentic, delicious and just simply real without the tourist trap... A discovery of Sicily through it's land, wine and hospitality at it's best!

We were lucky enough to discover this incredible place, it is not "just" a winery, it is a magical immersion in the most authentic and true Sicily, that of the scents of orange blossoms, of the earth, of lemons, of the sun, of the wonderful people, of the Sicilian bagli of an almost blinding white and of that magical hospitality. The wines were a revelation, fragrant and pleasant to drink, the Alègre wine and the Luigia are among my favorites! The company is located inside an incredibly preserved baglio, a place of charm and elegance but which has not lost that Sicilian soul tied to the land, to traditions. We participated in a tasting in the vineyard, between their excellent wine and the perfectly paired food (vegetables from their garden ... what more can I say?!), in the middle of the rows of these wonderful vineyards, with a sunset that framed everything and with impeccable hosts who with love and dedication accompanied us on this journey through flavors and aromas. Luigia and Angela are two young and brilliant girls with passion for what they do in their eyes and hearts! I recommend everyone to book a tasting in the vineyard and try their fantastic wines! Not to be missed!

It is a breathtaking place where you can taste very good wine, but also the atmosphere, the family and the natural all together give you a perfect experience. You can either relax and chill tasting their products during the sunset or you can actually have fun when they sometimes organize amazing parties! Highly recommended!

Once you cross the threshold of the baglio, you can breathe a friendly air. Luigia and Angela, two young entrepreneurs and the owners, welcome you by telling anecdotes and the history of the family. A visit to Barone Sergio is a must if you are in the area. Here you feel at home, surrounded by the scents of wine and the colors of the murals that dress the ancient walls of the building.
