Located in the picturesque Rheinhessen region, Bioweingut Manuel Engelhard offers breathtaking views of Mainz, Worms, and Alzey from its Hillesheim estate. Since 2008, the winery has embraced biodynamic practices, adhering to sustainable viticulture principles to transform high-quality grapes into exceptional wines. The roots of Bioweingut Manuel Engelhard trace back to the 1600s when Johannes Abstein, the great-great-uncle of the current owners, founded the winery. After facing financial challenges, the Hausmann family took over the estate. A turning point came in 1968 when Werner Engelhard began crafting wines at just 25 years old, earning the title of vintage master by 1970. Today, his son Manuel and daughter-in-law Maike continue the family tradition, with their children Johann and Henry also contributing to the winemaking process.
Spanning over 15 hectares, the organic vineyards of Manuel Engelhard are meticulously managed to produce a variety of red and white grape varietals. The estate is known for its premium Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Silvaner, alongside Regent, Dornfelder, Rivaner, Sauvignon Blanc, and Solaris. With a focus on quality over quantity, the winery ensures that each bottle reflects the care and dedication put into its production.

Nowhere else can you find more warmth and service right down to the smallest detail. We didn't celebrate our last celebration here today. I would like to award 100 points if possible. The wines are simply delicious and reflect the beauty of our region. With their dedication and love for viticulture, the Engelhard winemaking family has created an impressive selection of wines that you simply have to try. The use of organic farming methods gives the wines a special freshness and quality that can be tasted. Every visit to the winery is a pleasure for the senses. The wine tasting was a joy where I was able to get to know the different types of wine in a comfortable atmosphere. The team was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and their enthusiasm for their work was infectious. The winery is also surrounded by picturesque landscapes that make our region so unique. It's always nice to visit the vineyards and watch the wines grow. As a resident of Hillesheim, I can only warmly recommend the Manuel Engelhard organic winery to everyone. A very nice family, the wine tastes good, a nice wine tasting room that has been newly renovated, there is good food, you can also learn horse riding there.

With the help of Mr. Engelhard and his team, we were able to bring a little bit of Christmas spirit to our team during COVID times by sending their delicious mulled wines to our colleagues through the winery. Organization, contact and logistics were excellent; Mr. Engelhard personally monitored that all packages arrived and proactively forwarded packages when doubts arose. And if that wasn't enough, the whole team praised the mulled wine and punch. If I had to choose a favorite, it would probably be the white mulled wine
