Château Le Devoy Martine, in the Rhone Valley Since 1881
Château le Devoy Martine has been in the fold since 1881 in the Rhone Valley area around the Mediterranean Sea. The Lombardo family has four generations worth of experience from Sicily and France. After leaving their winery in Tunisia, Joseph and Marc Lombardo were attracted to the exceptional terroirs in the Rhone area where Château le Devoy Martine is there. The estate was owned by the Earl of Martine in the 13th century. The Lombardo brothers turned the estate from scrubs and woods to a high functioning winery by exploiting the gifted terroir and through their hard work, perseverance, and love for winemaking. In 2008, Veronique joined his father Marc to keep the family tradition alive and make distinct and elegant wines.
Best Grapes to Produce Their Fine Wines
The authentic wines are made with respect to their customer’s wants, their own quality requirements, and the environment. A subtle balance between their winemaking knowledge and terroir allows to make wines. The grape varietals that grow in their vineyards are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Carignan, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, Clairette, Vermentine, Ugni Blanc, and Muscat. The best grapes are handpicked by workers to produce their red, white, and rose wines. The Lirac Red wine is made from vines planted on terraces where the soil is rarely visible because of pebbles. The Lirac White comes from grapes planted to the north with high exposure to the sun. Their Lilac Rose wine has a subtle, delicious, flowery taste that blends perfectly with Mediterranean and Asian food. Most of their wines have a great combination of flavor and aroma.
