The history of Domaine des Chanssaud dates back to 1826. It is located at the gates of Provence near the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Patrick Jaume runs the winery and produces wines under both Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône.

The Organic Vineyards of Domaine des Chanssaud

The vineyards of Domaine des Chanssaud cover an area of 50 hectares. The soils consists mainly of clay pebbles, sand, and quartz formed by the alluvium of the Rhône River valley. These pebbles store sun and heat during the day and return it to the grapevines at night, maintaining a stable ambient temperature, thus allowing an optimal maturity of the grapes. Grape growers use organic farming techniques and no insecticides or pesticides are used but mechanically work the soil. Domaine des Chanssaud has recently converted their vineyards to organic maintaining excelletn quality and creating some fantastic southern Rhône wines.
