Doran Vineyards – a Boutique Winery Established in 2008

Doran Vineyards is present on the Swartland border, fifteen kilometers from Paarl and fourteen kilometers from Wellington. London-based and Irish-born, Edwin Doran, owns the winery along with his CEO, South African winemaking icon, Andre Badenhorst. Adrian and Edwin decided to start a boutique winery operation in December 2008, and thus, Doran Vineyards was born. In July 2011, Andre and Edwin started developing Doran Vineyards as a premium wine-producing estate. The project, including the barrel hall, new cellar, workshops, and tasting rooms completed in time for the 2012 vintage.

Doran Vineyards Winery combines traditional winemaking methods with modern and innovative techniques to produce high-quality wines.

Impeccable Soils and a Plethora of Wildlife

The soil and the climate are perfect in the region for the cultivation of vines. The winery combines traditional methods with modern and innovative techniques to produce high-quality wines. There is a low yield of grapes in their vineyards but of very high quality. The farm at Doran Winery has many animals such Aberdeen Angus cattle, Bushveldt hens, Ile de France sheep, grysbokkies, duikers, caracals, and the bat-eared fox. The creek nearby also has a large supply of wildlife such as birds, geese, ducks, and carp. There are many birds in the region, including Egyptian geese, wild ducks, fish eagles, blue cranes, pelicans, pigeons, and hadedads.

Cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc, and Grenache

The main types of grapes grown in their vineyards include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chenin, Grenache Noir, Grenache Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz, Pinotage, and Poussanne. The workers handpick the best grapes and use them to produce their world-class red, white, and rosé wines. The winery also has a Manor House that is available for guest rentals.
