Erik Banti, the Winery Producing Organic Wines
In 1981, Erik Banti established the winery and gave the winery his name. At that time, today renowned wine, Morellino di Scansano, was only famous locally. After a few years of establishment, with passion and determination, Erik made the wines of Erik Banti world-famous. He has become known as the “Prophet of Morellino” in magazines, newspapers, and columns for producing high-end wines. Initially, Erik Banti came from Rome and settled in the hills of Montepulciano. He revived the vineyards and cellar of Montemerano. In the year 1994, he moved the winery to Scansano and started the organic cultivation of vines with extended vineyards.
Sangiovese, the King Variety in Tuscany
At Erik Banti, the production staff cultivates a wide array of grapes in the vineyards. They have dedicated their vineyards to grow Sangiovese in 80% area of the vineyards, along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Grenache. On the new land, the owner bought near Poggio Maestrino, and they grow a rich-quality Sirah, Petit Verdot, Mouvèdre and Zinfandel.
