Fattoria Poggio Capponi: A Glimpse into Renaissance History

Fattoria Poggio Capponi is a historic winery that dates back to the late 1400s, during the vibrant Renaissance period in Florence. Established by the Capponi family, this wine farm is located just 25 km from Florence, nestled in the picturesque rolling hills of Chianti, an area once ruled by the Medici family and Lorenzo the Magnificent, who were known for their love of art and culture.

Over the years, the farm has gained recognition as a prime destination for both agriculture and leisure.

Following World War II, the Capponi family undertook significant modernization efforts to enhance the winery's structures and improve wine production techniques.

Wow! What a location. We had a 12 night stay early July 2024. The pool is great. The apartments down at the little village make for an interesting community of fellow travelers. And close to the lovely hill town of Montespertoli for supplies. The wine tour, which is part of the stay, just caps it of perfectly.

First of all, the welcome at the farm was warm and full of attention. Our apartment at the Farm was fit for a real couple. Waking up in the morning is a dream: the mountain panorama, the farm garden. The visit to the 1595 winery and the tasting should not be missed. The wines we bought were excellent, as was the oil. The restaurant is very close and has local cuisine and wines from the estate. Thank you Monica for making us feel pampered.

A wonderful location! The Lo Spigo restaurant is right nearby, where you will receive a warm welcome even without a table reservation. The holiday apartment offers plenty of space and exudes Italian flair. The wine and olive oil are of the highest quality, and the host Monika is very friendly and welcoming. Our stay with the dog was simply ideal.
