The Etruscans, who inhabited this region centuries ago, were pioneers in viticulture in Europe. Icario Winery honors this rich heritage with its 51 hectares of vineyards, divided into two distinct zones. The high zone, situated at an average altitude of 450 meters, boasts sandy and tuff soils ideal for Prugnolo Gentile, the local name for the renowned Sangiovese grape. In contrast, the lower zone, at around 300 meters, features clay-rich soils that are better suited for international varietals like Merlot.
The Icario Wine Club is designed for those who appreciate the true essence of Tuscan wines. Membership offers three tiers: Rosso, the entry level, provides access to winery newsletters; Nobile, the advanced level, includes private tastings and early previews of upcoming vintages; and Riserva, the premium level, grants access to exclusive VIP events and special offers for stays at Villa Icario.

Beautiful winery - a must in Montepulciano! Our visit to the Icario winery was simply gorgeous. The location in Montepulciano is breathtaking and the terrace offers a wonderful view over the Tuscan landscape. Icario is really always worth a visit! The wines get better from year to year and reflect the passion and attention to detail that goes into this family-run winery. The modern architecture, which blends harmoniously into the beautiful surroundings, is particularly impressive. The tasting was - as every year - an absolute highlight. There are various packages, from a small wine tasting to a comprehensive experience. We can particularly recommend the tasting with the four-course menu on the sunny terrace - a treat for all the senses! Luigi, the manager and cellar master, personally accompanied us through the tasting. We were a group of friends and had a fantastic time. The entire team is incredibly warm and you immediately feel welcome. All in all: we would go back anytime and absolutely recommend it!

Spectacular location! Immersed in the Tuscan hills, a few steps from the center of Montepulciano. The girl offers different options such as a tour of the cellars or a tasting. We opted for a wine by the glass (it's expensive but worth it). I recommend 👍

Fantastic wine tasting with nice views and very knowledgeable professional staff; our sommelier Alessandra had a fantastic and wonderful explanation about the wines and grapes, she made us feel very comfortable and cared.
