Winery in the Pearl of the Renaissance

Icario Winery is located in Montepulciano, Tuscany, near the other Italian region Umbria. Nowadays, you will not find any big industrial plants, but only small authenthic shops, galleries and a lot of buildings, which date back to Renaissance epoch there. Icario winery also owns a gallery, which serves as an exhibition center for artists from all around the world. Morevover, winery’s guests are offered to stay in art villas specifically designed to help enjoy the combination of visual art and the art of wine.

Vineyards that Remember Etruscan Viticulture

The Etruscans, the nation that inhabited these lands hundreds of years ago, were among the first ones who cultivated the vines in Europe. Icario Winery carries respectfully the legacy of the Etruscans. 51 Hectares of the vineyard are divided into 2 big zones: a so-called high zone – at average of 450 metres altidude with sandy and tuff soils, and a low zone – at around 300 metres altitude with the higher proportion of clay. The ground of the first area is more suitable for Prugnolo Gentile (the local name for the world famous Sangiovese), whilst the second area has soils that suit international varietals (for instance, Merlot) better.

Icario Wine Club

Icarion Winery hosts the exclusive wine club. It is created for people who know the real value of Tuscany wines. There are 3 levels of membership: Rosso – the entry level, on which you may receive winery’s newsletters, Nobile – an advanced level, on which you will be offered private tastings and get the preview of future vintages first, and finally, Riserva – a premium level giving access to all VIP events and exclusive offers for the stay at Villa Icario.
