Where Fine Wines and Art Converge in Tuscany
Winery in the Heart of the Renaissance
Icario Winery is nestled in the picturesque town of Montepulciano, Tuscany, close to the enchanting region of Umbria. This area is known for its charming small shops, art galleries, and stunning Renaissance architecture. Icario Winery features an art gallery that showcases works from talented artists worldwide. Guests can also stay in beautifully designed art villas, where the beauty of visual art complements the exquisite experience of wine tasting.
Vineyards Rooted in Etruscan Tradition
The Etruscans, who inhabited this region centuries ago, were pioneers in viticulture in Europe. Icario Winery honors this rich heritage with its 51 hectares of vineyards, divided into two distinct zones. The high zone, situated at an average altitude of 450 meters, boasts sandy and tuff soils ideal for Prugnolo Gentile, the local name for the renowned Sangiovese grape. In contrast, the lower zone, at around 300 meters, features clay-rich soils that are better suited for international varietals like Merlot.
