Biodynamic Winemaking and Olive Oil Production
Podere La Marronaia is a small family farm, owned and established by Silvia and Luigi in 2000. The farm is located in San Gimignano, Tuscany, a short drive away from Sant’Agostino church. Today, along with two sons, Pietro and Corrado, the family uses organic and biodynamic methods to produce magnificent wines and extra virgin olive oil.
Podere La Marronaia, a Ruin becomes a Beautiful Winery
The winery initially was an old ruin of the Podere Marronaia which now has been converted into a beautiful winery, surrounded by charming landscapes. The family owns three vineyards – Podere la Marronaia, Podere le Colonne and Podere Fornicchiaia, where they cultivate red and white grapes which include Vernaccia, Sangiovese, and Canaiolo and olive groves. They also grow unique Trebbiano, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. At present, they produce white, rosé, and red vintage along with luscious dessert and sparkling wines.
Organic Winemaking with Respect for Nature
With utmost respect of nature, the owners have been using organic methods since the beginning of time to maintain the balance between ecosystem and natural fertility of the soil. The olive plantation is extended in the Siena countryside, under Chianti Colli Senesi DOC region to produce delicious extra virgin olive oil.
The Apartments of Podere la Marronaia Leave Nothing to be Desired
The Podere la Marronaia farmstead also provides accommodation to guests. It consists of well-furnished rooms equipped with modern facilities. The panoramic windows of the rooms, overlooking the vineyards, offer tourists an appealing view that is sufficient to spellbind anyone who visits it. The towers of San Gimignano provide fantastic sightseeing experiences, along with a historical center, located approximately 2 km away from the Podere La Marronaia.
