Biodynamic Winemaking and Olive Oil Production

Podere La Marronaia is a charming family-run farm founded by Silvia and Luigi in 2000, nestled in the picturesque San Gimignano, Tuscany, just a short drive from the Sant’Agostino church. Together with their two sons, Pietro and Corrado, the family employs organic and biodynamic practices to craft exceptional wines and extra virgin olive oil.

From Ruin to Winery: A Transformation

Once an old ruin, Podere La Marronaia has been transformed into a stunning winery surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. The family cultivates three vineyards—Podere la Marronaia, Podere le Colonne, and Podere Fornicchiaia—growing a variety of grapes including Vernaccia, Sangiovese, and Canaiolo, as well as unique varieties like Trebbiano, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Their offerings include white, rosé, and red wines, along with delightful dessert and sparkling options.

Organic Winemaking with Nature in Mind

With a strong commitment to sustainability, the family has embraced organic methods from the start, ensuring a harmonious balance between the ecosystem and soil fertility. Their olive groves, located in the scenic Siena countryside within the Chianti Colli Senesi DOC region, yield high-quality extra virgin olive oil.

Comfortable Accommodations at Podere La Marronaia

Guests at Podere La Marronaia can enjoy comfortable accommodations in well-appointed rooms featuring modern amenities. The panoramic windows offer stunning views of the vineyards, captivating all who visit. Just 2 km away, the iconic towers of San Gimignano and its historic center provide an enriching experience for travelers.

We booked a wine tasting with dinner. Very friendly staff. Beautiful location. The food, the different wines and the different olive oils were delicious. I can definitely recommend the wine tasting with the menu (truffle menu). We would have loved to buy a few bottles of the delicious wines, but unfortunately the bottle prices were completely inflated. What a pity.

Beautiful family business immersed in the countryside near San Giminiano. The view of the vineyards and the city while eating outside is magical. Excellent tasting, excellent products. Kindness and professionalism of the girls in explaining the wines, how they are prepared and all the details of their production. We were also able to taste their oils and vinegars, as well as excellent quality Tuscan delicacies. I would definitely return!

Adriano was a superb host! I don't know if the experience would have been worth the price without him. He made all the difference. Delicious wine and plenty of snacks. I recommend going in the regular season because if you go in winter all the vines are cut, which I probably should have realized but was so excited I did not

Had the best experience with our wine tasting and the food was delicious! Their olive oils and vinegars were out of this world. They even have shipping in house so they can send it to wherever you need to go. Had some flavors I’ve never even seen before. The views and the staff really brought it all together and made this our best part of our trip to Italy. Highly recommend doing the wine tasting, you will not regret it!

A Tuscan Gem: Unforgettable Experience at Podere La Marronaia Visiting Podere La Marronaia was the highlight of our trip to San Gimignano! Nestled in the picturesque Tuscan countryside, this family-run winery offers an enchanting blend of stunning views, exceptional wines, and warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family by our wonderful hostess, Victoria, the daughter-in-law of the owners. Her warmth and knowledge made our visit truly special. The wine tasting experience was nothing short of spectacular. We sampled a variety of organic and biodynamic wines, each one more delightful than the last. Victoria guided us through each tasting, sharing fascinating insights about the winemaking process and the unique characteristics of their wines. The tour of the wine-making fermentation area was incredibly informative. We learned so much about the meticulous process that goes into creating their exceptional wines. The setting is simply breathtaking. Sipping wine while overlooking the rolling hills and medieval towers of San Gimignano is an experience we will cherish forever. We also had the pleasure of tasting their exquisite extra-virgin olive oils, which perfectly complemented the delicious local delicacies served during our visit. Podere La Marronaia is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Tuscany. Whether you’re a wine enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable day in the countryside, this winery offers an experience that is second to none. We can’t wait to return!

Dreams come true! I dont think I can adequately describe how perfect this experience was. For years, my mom dreamed of coming to Italy with the family. A cooking class, wine tasting, olive oil tasting were all on the dream list. We were finally able to go, but there was only 1 wine class in Tuscany that would allow the (2) toddlers in our group. Thanks to Podere La Marroniaia, we were able to do it. Not only was the cooking experience amazing, but the table set up, wine tasting, olive oil/balsamic tasting was just top tier. We all cried during the experience out of joy. I am forever grateful for my experience. Thank you so much for making it happen.
