Handcrafted Wines

Vinden Wines, formerly known as Vinden Estate, has been a cornerstone of the Hunter Valley since its establishment in 1990. Now led by second-generation winemaker Angus Vinden, the winery is dedicated to producing exceptional wines from hand-picked grapes. Each bottle reflects a commitment to minimal intervention, allowing the natural qualities of the grapes to shine. The winemaking team believes that great wines start in the vineyard, where they prioritize nurturing the soil and vines. This careful approach results in high-quality fruit, essential for crafting world-class wines.

The Magic of the Hunter Valley

Located in Australia’s oldest commercial wine region, Vinden Wines is committed to enhancing the Hunter Valley's reputation. All wines produced here are sourced exclusively from local vineyards, including their own estate and the historic Somerset vineyard in Pokolbin. The first vines were planted in 1995 in rich, heavy red clay soil, which is ideal for growing varietals such as Shiraz, Mourvedre, Gamay, and Alicant Bouschet. This diverse selection allows Vinden Wines to create a range of wines that cater to various palates. Their dedication to quality has earned them numerous accolades, both locally and internationally, highlighting their exceptional flavor and character.

We went to the cellar door. It was one of our most enjoyable cellar doors, hosted by Cory, for ages: a wonderful combination of attitude and information. Great tastings, wonderful views, fantastic service. Highly recommended!

We've never had a bad experience at Vinden Wines, but our visit for a wine tasting on Wednesday was particularly special. I had my mum visiting the Hunter for the first time along with my partner's family and the tasting was informative, not overly technical and brilliantly timed. Corey running the tasting was excellent. Cannot recommend Vinden Wines enough.

Angus Vinden is one of the young winemakers revitalising the Hunter Valley’s image with textured, balanced, delicious food-friendly wines. He won me over with the floral, herbal notes of his crisp chardonnay (a grape variety I often don't enjoy in Australia) and stole my heart with his sparkling alicante bouchet. He's an engaging presenter too and a tasting with him - or any of his highly knowledgeable staff – at Vinden's beautiful cellar door, is a real treat. Love the funky artwork and photography on the labels too - the cellar door staff can tell you more about them.
