HERRENHOF LAMPRECHT is a remarkable winery located on the historic Buchertberg site, which has been producing wine for nearly 300 years. Originally owned by the Vorau Canons' Monastery, this estate has a rich heritage that dates back to when wine was crafted for the monastery using the region's unique light sandstone and silty soils.
Today, Gottfried Lamprecht, a passionate winegrower, has revived this legacy. His great-grandfather acquired Herrenhof in 1913, and after a long hiatus, the vineyards were replanted about 18 years ago. The winery is known for its traditional methods, including spontaneous fermentation of Pinot Blanc in 600-liter barrels, reminiscent of historical practices. Herrenhof is also proud to cultivate Furmint, a rare and high-quality grape variety from southeastern Europe, making it the only winery in Styria to do so. Additionally, they produce a traditional white blend known as Buchertberg Weiss and have reintroduced several old grape varieties.
While Buchertberg is primarily recognized for its exceptional white wines, it also produces notable red wines, including Pinot Noir and Blaufränkisch, known as Buchertberg Red. The meticulous manual labor invested in the vineyards ensures that each wine meets high standards of quality, making a visit to HERRENHOF LAMPRECHT a must for wine enthusiasts.
