Handcrafted Organic Wines from Styria, Austria, Emphasizing Sustainability and Tradition
A Unique and Historical Site
Herrenhof Lamprecht is a remarkable winery located in the picturesque region of Styria, Austria. This historic site has roots dating back nearly 300 years when it was owned by the Canons of Vorau, hence the name "Herrenhof." Originally, the vineyard produced wine for the monastery, thriving on the region's light, weathered sandstone and silt soils.
High-Quality Styrian Wines
Today, winemaker Gottfried Lamprecht has revitalized this historic estate. His great-grandfather purchased Herrenhof in 1913, drawn by its prime location. After a period of neglect, the vineyards were restored about 16 years ago. The winemaking process is traditional, with spontaneous fermentation of the base wine, Pinot Blanc, taking place in 600-liter barrels. Herrenhof is also home to Furmint, a rare grape variety from southeastern Europe, making it the only vineyard in Styria cultivating this exceptional grape. Additionally, a traditional white blend known as Buchertberg Weiss is produced, alongside the reintroduction of old and forgotten grape varieties.
Certified Organic Wines at Herrenhof Lamprecht
While Buchertberg is primarily known for its white wines, the focus on red varieties includes Pinot Noir and Blaufränkisch, known as Buchertberg Rot. The vineyards, certified organic since 2006, are cultivated with great care, adhering to strict organic practices that prohibit synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. This commitment to organic farming ensures that the heart of the wine—the vineyard—thrives naturally, producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of Styria.
