Making Wines since a Century
The Materossi family, founder, and owner of the Monte Cicogna estate, has been a winegrower since 1908. Today, after more than a century of history, the Materossi brothers, in their fourth generation: Maria Grazia, Alessandro, Luigi, Chiara, and Cesare continue the legacy left by Father Piero with the same philosophy and commitment of the past. Alessandro follows the heart of the company in the vineyards and in the wine-making cellar while Cesare takes care of the administrative and commercial parts in a sign of business continuity. The teachings, the passion, and the secrets passed from father to son are kept and carry the company into the 21st century with the same excellence of the past.
The Lands of the Winery
The Monte Cicogna farm is located in Moniga del Garda, in the Valtenesi area near Brescia on the western bank of Lake Garda. It produces the Garda Classico denomination of origin wines, the sparkling wines "metodo classico" and extra virgin olive oil.
It is a land born to grow vineyards and olive trees with its Mediterranean microclimate influenced by the lake otself and by the surrounding belt of wooded hills.
The morainic soil is calcareous and made up of clay and lime, although the combination of the two varies considerably. The vineyards and olive groves lay on the hillside southeast exposed which slopes gently the lake Garda and surround the "Torrione" , a manor-house, the heart of the farm, placed in s raised position.
