Bindella: Renowned for DOC & DOCG Wines and Olive Oils

Bindella, also known as Tenuta Vallocaia, is nestled in the southeastern region of Montepulciano, just a short drive from the picturesque hilltop town. The estate boasts vineyards across various sites in Montepulciano, including Santa Maria, Paterno, and Cervognano, where the celebrated Sangiovese grape thrives. In 2015, a modern wine cellar was built next to the original one to enhance wine production capabilities.

A Family Legacy Since 1983

In 1983, Rudi Bindella recognized Montepulciano's potential for producing exceptional wines and acquired the historic Tenuta Vallocaia along with its two-and-a-half hectares of vineyards. Over the years, the Bindella family has expanded the winery by constructing a new cellar, adding bottling rooms, and acquiring additional land. Today, the estate spans over 127 hectares, with 38 hectares dedicated to vineyards and 12 hectares to olive groves.

Fertile Terroirs and a Unique Microclimate

The stunning landscape of Montepulciano is reflected in every bottle of wine produced at Bindella. The family has revitalized the old vineyards acquired decades ago, cultivating a diverse range of grape varieties, including Sangiovese, Colorino, and other local grapes. Additionally, international varietals such as Trebbiano, Malvasia, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot are also grown, contributing to the winery's rich portfolio.

We had the joy and honor of attending a special birthday party there this year. Impressive. Extremely hospitable. The wines were excellent, as was the olive oil. The view of Montepulciano was phenomenal.

Tuscany is truly a wine paradise on the planet! WINERY Bindella is one of the most beautiful wineries I have ever seen, and I think I have only seen a few wineries, about 130. An incredibly well-kept estate built with a lot of love and on a grand scale! Bindella is a skilful combination of winemaking and art! A wealth of paintings painted by CHRISTOPHER LEHMPFUHL in his super individual style. These are three-dimensional pictures that Christopher paints with his hands, without brushes, and the true beauty of the paintings is visible only from a distance. Exquisite and varied sculptures, mostly by Swiss masters, are interspersed throughout the winery. In addition, the winery's tasting room is an architectural work of art in itself. Immersed in greenery, the Bindella Winery is located in the Tuscany region, in the province of Siena, near the famous Montepulciano, on a very picturesque hill from where you can see the vineyards and olive groves, the town of Montepulciano itself, slender cypress trees and the villa of the owner of the Swiss winery, whose ancestors were Spanish: Rudi Bindella. (I'm a little confused by the name Rudy. Maybe his full name is Ruven? And it will turn out to be ours) 30 years ago, businessman Rudi Bindella fell in love with Tuscany and the wines of Montepulciano. This led him to acquire a modest winery in this place. Over time, Mr. Rudy turned this place into a piece of paradise. Here is what he himself says about it: “We were not surprised by the crumbling walls or the abandoned vineyards. For us, Vallocaya was a diamond in the rough, a jewel that was eager to shine again. All it takes is passion, dedication and patience. In complete harmony with nature, the gem came to life. A place where a generation of dedicated winemakers painstakingly maintains local viticulture and winemaking traditions.” An incredibly nice woman, Maria, who was at the origins of the winery, gave us an extensive and very informative tour. We even got to unload the grapes and watched the selection of bunches, destemming and how the grapes were turned into juice. With great delight we beheld the feats of art, the wine making process, the winery and wine storage. The crowning achievement of our tour was the tasting… After having tasted about 8 wines and a chacha, I was even a little taken aback….. To my shame and great surprise, I did not develop a great love….. I was overwhelmed with emotions from all I saw and was sure that there would now be an absolute immersion in fine wine, from which I will be as amazed as the place itself. Of the eight wines, Sovblanc, Ardore and the flagship I Quadri (in the picture translation) seemed nice to me. I have never seen a more beautiful winery. But I have often drunk better wine. It happens like that. After thinking about the current situation, I realized that I was not upset at all. Firstly, I visited the incredibly beautiful place of Tuscany. Secondly, I was there in excellent company with my beloved Marusenka and the wonderful Larisa. Thirdly, I fulfilled my dream and visited the town of Montepulciano. Fourthly, I visited an incredibly beautiful gallery of wineries. And should I be sad that these wines did not suit me? Of course not! I want to wish Bindell Winery to make those same magical and wonderful wines. And in a few years I will visit them again and repeat the tasting. The Bindell winery deserves attention and words of admiration, even after my not very impressive tasting. Italy is a wonderful country!

A unique experience. Beyond the beauty of the place, which is indisputable, we were welcomed by Amin, who told us and made us taste each dish/drink we had, making us discover the history and how they were made. Delicious selection of wines and cheeses, the oil we tried was an indescribable emotion. Thank you for everything, we will definitely be back!
