Cantine Villa Dora – Organic Winery situated in a town called Terzigno
The Cantine Villa Dora winery is situated in a town called Terzigno, near the famous city of Pompeii in the shadow of the looking volcano of Mount Vesuvius. The actual winery can be found inside the Vesuvius National Park and is famous not only for its unique location but also for its seventy year old vines, organic farming methods and obsessive care and attention to detail when producing wine.
Winery with Unique Volcanic Road
The gates to the winery lead one along a unique volcanic road past towering vineyards and impressive olive groves. The winery is unlike others with blackish grey volcanic soil and scattered volcanic rocks. Cantine Villa Dora began in 1997 when Vincenzo Ambrosio decided to rejuvenate and revamp the vineyards that were on the land at the time and transform them into vines that could be used to produce high quality grapes that would produce excellent wines.
Theie Current Wine Labels
The winemakers currently produce three red wines: Gelsonero, Vesuvio Rosso, and Forgiato (produced only during particular vintages); a rose namned Gelsoros and two whites: Vesuvio Bianco, and Vigna del Vulcano. Because of the location of the winery the vines are exposed to extreme wine and sunshine everyday which means that very hard work goes into maintaining them and protecting the precious grapes.
In the production process the wine makers make use of stainless steel vats. Cantine Villa Dora is a popular national and international tourist destination for tastings and visits.
The most popular wines prdocued on the farm are the Forgiato Red Wine Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio DOC and the Gelsonero Red Wine Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Doc.
