Celler Bàrbara Forés is a cherished family winery nestled in the picturesque village of Gandesa, Catalonia. The winery honors its namesake, Bàrbara Forés, who was born on February 7, 1828. Bàrbara, the daughter of a wine merchant and an agrarian landlady, inspired her son Rafael Ferrer Forés to pursue winemaking. In the late 19th century, Rafael established a winery in their stately home, marking the beginning of a rich winemaking legacy. Today, Celler Bàrbara Forés stands as a testament to the respect and tradition of winemaking that has been passed down through six generations.
Located in the Terra Alta wine region, Celler Bàrbara Forés benefits from a unique landscape protected by the Ports de Tortosa-Beseit, Sierra de Pàndols, and Sierra de Cavalls mountain ranges. The region is crisscrossed by the Ebro, Algars, and Matarranya rivers, with the Canaletes river flowing through its heart. This Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm summers and mild winters, creates ideal conditions for growing wheat, vines, and olive trees. The vineyards, situated at altitudes between 350 and 600 meters, enjoy abundant sunshine and significant temperature variations between day and night, promoting balanced grape ripening. This combination of factors contributes to the exceptional quality of the wines produced at Celler Bàrbara Forés.

Write a reviewWe did the Autumn tasting and had an amazing experience! The hosts were very friendly and had so much knowledge about the history of the region. We had an amazing trip to the mountain top, followed by a walk along the vineyard. Lots of positive emotions in a lovely company and a beautiful scenery. Thank you! We will definitely come back for another tasting.

We did the Autumn Tasting and we loved it. First we drove up to Cota 705 where they explained the history and relevance of the area during the Civil War, as well as geological aspects of the surrounding mountains. We were unlucky that the day was very cloudy and we couldn't enjoy the views (what are we going to do!). Then we went back down to the vineyard area where they explained the crops they have and we did a tasting right there. Finally we went to the village of Gandesa to see the winery and did another tasting. It was all very pleasant, we highly recommend it!

The tasting in the vineyard and in the cellar was fantastic. Annabel and Carme's explanations were very understandable, we were able to consult them for any questions. The very high quality wines tasted demonstrate that this is a winery committed to modernity without forgetting the past and tradition. Highly recommended experience!!!

A very nice and cool visit, you go to the vineyards (with your car) and there you do white wine tastings, an orange wine and a white wine; there you can also try olive oil, delicious!!!! The views are super cool. Afterwards we go to the Celler, in the town of Gandesa and there we do red wine tastings.
