A French Spirit Wines in Romanian Terroir

The story begins in 2000 in the Dealu Mare wine area with a visionary, Denis Thomas, owner and winemaker from Burgundy - France, who laid the foundations of the first BIO vineyard in Romania. Assisted by a team of Romanian and French specialists, Denis Thomas took over and developed a 45 hectares plantation, where the terroir, similar to the one in Burgundy, allows the production of Romanian wines in the French spirit.

Wines From the Organic Vines

Here, in 2006, the first wine in Romania was obtained which was produced from organically grown grapes, with Ecocert certification. The winery became known for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines produced according to the "French recipe". In 2020, Domeniile Franco- Romane was taken over by a group of Romanian investors. One of them comes from a family with a tradition in viticulture. Today, the vineyard totals over 85 hectares, cultivated with noble Romanian and international varieties, of which 50 hectares are organically cultivated. We combine traditional techniques with modern technology to produce high-quality wines. With an area of ​​1900 square meters, our winery has winemaking and storage facilities for white, rosé, and red wines.

At Domeniile Franco-Romane we always enjoy guests, so enthusiasts and tourists are invited to visit us, to taste the wines, and to share their opinions. Visitors will discover the wine cellar, the space specially designed for storage of oak barrels and the tasting area. Tastings and tours are available for groups of 10-40 people only.
